Berest Dance Center making spirits bright

Making Spirits Bright is an annual tradition at the Berest Dance Center, joining gift giving with The Arts.

Members of the audience are invited to bring an unwrapped toy for the families of the Childrens’ Center Outreach Program housed in the Landmark building on Main Street in Port Washington.

Danced by 70 students ages 5 through 18, a holiday fantasy comes to life.

There are storybook characters Miss Muffet and Spider, 3 Pigs and Wolf, Hip hop Jack and Jill, Cinderella’s Step mother and Step sisters, Goldilocks and the Bears, the Dwarfs, Mother Goose’s children and of course Princesses, Fairies, Toy makers, Santa, Reindeer and even his sled.! You will see lavish costumes and all genres of dancing!

Olga’s thumb print over the years is to include audience participation. She invited children in the audience at intermission to come on stage and dance her version of “Soldiers and Mice” from the “Nutcracker.” She teaches it on the spot.

This production brings the young and older dancers together for 10 short weeks. The mentoring by Berest’s older dancers is the heart of what the Berest Dance Center represents.

Suitable for all ages, the show takes place on Dec. 9th at the Jeanne Rimsky Theatre in Port Washington

Tickets are $25 on line : http://www.berestdance.com/newsandevents.html#t… E-mail: [email protected] Phone: 516-944-6687
