The Hillside Public Library is sponsoring a Basic First Aid Supplies Drive to support Ukraine. Needed items include Band Aids, Sterile Eye Dressings; Gauze Dressings; Safety Pins; Tweezers and Scissors; Skin Rash Creams; Pain Relievers and Digital Thermometers. There is a bin at the library for your donations, and we thank you for your generosity.

PROGRAMS and EVENTS
Summer Bingo! – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Friday, July 8 at 12 noon. Join us for a fun game of Bingo! Winners will win prizes!

Scrimshaw Art – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Friday, July 8 at 5 p.m. Discover an art form popularized during the age of whaling. Learn from staff at the Cold Spring Whaling Museum how whalers carved teeth, bone, and baleen into beautiful works of art with hidden meanings, Each person will be able to create their own scrimshaw art on a keepsake box. A $5.00 materials fee will be collected at the start of the program. This program is made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021

Spanish 101 – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor
Tuesday, July 12 at 12 noon and on the following dates at 12 noon: Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 7/12, 7/13, 7/19, 7/20, 7/26, 7/27, 8/2, 8/3. Join us for this series of classes led by aspiring Spanish teacher Anna Komninos! These classes will cover the basics of Spanish and provide an introductory level of instruction. No prior knowledge of Spanish is required! This program is made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Brain Fitness for Everybody – Virtual Tuesday, July 12 at 2:30 p.m. and the following Tuesdays at 2:30 p.m., July 12, 19, 26; August 2. *Please register only 1x for the series of classes. This Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center’s Brain Fitness Workshops series is intended for those who do not have a diagnosis of memory impairment.. Sessions help stimulate the areas of the brain that are susceptible to age-related decline.

Candles with Chrissy – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Wednesday, July 13 at 1:30 p.m. Create your own candle using a variety of colors and scents. The simple fun process of layering dry wax granules can create different patterns like a rainbow, quilted or tie-dye. No two candles come out the same! $5.00 fee for materials, cash only please. This program is for patrons 18 years of age and older.

Introduction to 3D Printing – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Saturday, July 16 at 11 a.m. 20 patrons. 3 machines will be on display.

CHILDREN and YOUNG ADULT EVENTS
Stemtastic: Deep Sea Terrariums! – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Monday, July 11 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: 7 years- 10 years. Dive deep into the ocean with Stemtastic and explore the bottom of the sea floor where you can discover mysterious hydrothermal vents and the unusual creatures that live around them. Build an active sea floor geyser with its very own ecosystem complete with spaghetti worms!

Summer Spectacular…Kahoot Trivia Game Night! – Virtual Monday, July 11 at 7 p.m. All Ages- Family Fun! Join Mr. B. & Miss Jessi for some fun in the sun Summer themed trivia! **All participants will be entered in a Raffle to receive a surprise.

Reptiles on the Move Return! – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Tuesday, July 6 at 6 p.m. Ages: 6 years & Up. A program that will introduce children to the mysterious world of amphibians and reptiles! Children will meet snakes, turtles, and lizards. Children will also have an opportunity to hold & touch the reptiles. A portion of this program is made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

YA Beach Bags – All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Wednesday, July 13 at 4 p.m. Grades 5 – 12. Create an ocean themed beach tote bag to hold all your summer. essentials. Perfect to take to the beach! $2 Materials Fee

Time for Kids: Rainbow Fish! – Children’s Room, 2nd Floor Wednesday, July 13 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: 3 years- 7 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. as we explore Oceans of Possibilities in this family fun program all about Rainbow Fish! Activities include music, movement, fine & gross motor development and storytelling! There will also be a Rainbow Fish craft!

Ajna Dance Club! – Children’s Room, 2nd Floor Thursday, July 14 at 5 p.m. All Ages- Family Fun! Dance the night away! A brief introduction to Bollywood/Bhangra dance styles, and movements will be followed by an interactive dance lesson. This program is made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
