A household name in France might soon become one in Great Neck.

Marie Blachére, a bakery in France with more than 500 locations throughout the country, will be opening its first U.S. location at 550 Middle Neck Road – the former home of Pristine, a beauty salon – in Great Neck come January.

It is one of at least 30 planned to open in the next five years, company representatives said.

“For 14 years, Marie Blachére has been a household name throughout all of France,” Christophe Besnard, the international business development developer for the company, said in a statement. “Now we are thrilled to bring our authentic artisan breads, baked goods and food items to the United States, where traditional breads and pastries have unquestionably gained in popularity in recent years.”

“We see huge growth potential here and look forward to delighting Long Islanders at our first U.S. location.”

Products, made from traditional French-inspired recipes, are baked and prepared on site with ingredients mostly sourced from U.S. food producers.

Among its menu items will be artisanal breads, baguette sandwiches, French sweets and a mix of American fare and beverages like macchiato, cappuccino, latte, house coffee, hot chocolate and a number of cold brews.

Menu items are prepared live in front of customers, representatives said, and average about $10 an item.

“New Yorkers have sophisticated taste when it comes to food, especially their breads and pastries. They want high quality, authentic, fresh food made from only the best ingredients,” Besnard said. “That is what Marie Blachére stands for and that is what our reputation is built on.”

The Great Neck location features seating for 40 people on the first floor. Come spring, company representatives said there would be rooftop dining offering another 40 seats.

Its hours will be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
