John Lewis Childs School students and staff honored Veterans Day this year with multiple activities on Nov. 10.

To prepare for the day, Student Council members installed American flags on the front lawn of the school building. This patriotic sight is what greeted veterans of the Floral Park American Legion Post 334 as they attended a bagel breakfast Thursday morning, hosted by the Student Council. In Christina Saunders’ fifth grade class, the students learned about the holiday from their peers. Lucas Lee, Elizabeth Mathew and Trevor Ramirez volunteered to research Veterans Day and present their findings to the class. Prior to the presentations, their classmates submitted questions that the three students utilized to create their final projects.
