Manhasset Rotary buys van for Beacon House veterans

The Manhasset Rotary Club recently raised $40,000 to purchase a new, 16-seat Ford van for United Veteran Beacon House when the latter organization’s President and CEO Frank Amalfitano told them one was needed to transport veterans and supplies.

Beacon House, which houses hundreds of veterans in dozens of homes across Long Island and at Beacon House on the grounds of the Northport Veterans Administration Medical Center, also provides transportation for veterans needing to visit doctors, attend therapy sessions and go on job interviews.

According to Manhasset Rotary member Robert Donno, the funding was secured from the George Link Foundation thanks to a relationship dating back to 1980 when Nora Link was president of the Manhasset Inter-Act Club, the Manhasset High School chapter of Rotary International.
