The Floral Park Public Library’s springing forward into March with some new programs and some tried and true programs!
Like robins in Spring, so, too, can we look forward to lawn sales. Plans are currently underway for the April 27 Library Lawn Sales. Tables are filling up fast. As are tax prep appointments with AARP.
Chef Rob is in the literary house to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with homemade Irish Soda Bread. Game Nite for Grownups with Patty Cook returns (happy to see her back!), as does an Evening with Lisa Mayer and Your Angel Guides.
On the adult life track, Empire Safety Council Defensive Driving class is scheduled for March 14, and there’s also a Nutrition Essentials: Habits for a Healthy Lifestyle with Legacy Strength’s Joey Olivo, and a Retirement Planning seminar.
“The Miracle Club” is this month’s Monday Movie Matinee, and the Evening Edition Book Club takes on Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan’s “Mad Honey.” Wednesday’s weekly hybrid Chair Yoga with Micheline brings new and familiar faces together in person and via Zoom … sometimes all the way from Malta!
The tried and true Toddler Time, Little Adventurers with Miss Rita, Play Hooray and A Time for Kids Baby Start and Family Pre-School Hour are on the Children’s March calendar, along with the Pom Pom Queen (third – fifth grade), and P[art]y Art drop off sessions. Courtesy of a grant from New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, the Long Island Children’s Museum brings “Catch Me If You Can” to the Library for children in grades 2 through 5.
Guidance Counselor Paul Meyfohrt offers teens/young adult high school juniors, sophomores and freshmen – and their parents – a primer on College Prep. For fun, Artist/Maker Danielle Barbaro brings Graffiti Art for Teens to the Library. Teens are encouraged to follow the library on Instagram for information on pop-up events (@fpplteens).
Our generous Made with Love Knitting and Crocheting group meets Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. (holiday closures excepted).
The Library Board meets Wednesday, March 13 at 7:30pm. The public is welcome. The Library is closed Sunday, March 31 in observance of Easter Sunday.
One-to-one tech help for tablets, smartphones, laptops and Kindles is available for our Floral Park patrons by appointment only ([email protected]).
