North Hempstead educates residents about electric vehicles

North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena and the Town Board invite residents to the Electric Vehicles 101 workshop on April 12 at 2 p.m. at Clinton G. Martin Park.

The workshop, facilitated by Drive Electric LI, will explain the basics about electric vehicles and dispel the common myths and misconceptions associated with these vehicles. The program will conclude with an EV show-and-tell so residents can see and learn about these vehicles in person.

“With gas prices escalating and the Town working on a plan to reduce our carbon footprint, this program will educate residents about zero-emission electric vehicles,” said  DeSena. “People have a lot of questions about cost, maintenance, range, charging and more. My hope is that when a North Hempstead resident walks into a dealer, they will have a foundation to ask the right questions and make the best decision for their household.”

This workshop is part of a three-part Transportation Innovation Series focused on public transportation, active transportation, and electric vehicles. It is part of North Hempstead’s Climate Smart Communities work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate.

All workshops are free and open to the public. Visit NorthHempsteadNY.gov/ClimateAction to register.
