Northwell physician named president of Urology Care Foundation Board
Dr. Harris M. Nagler of Northwell Health’s Smith Institute for Urology has been named president of the Urology Care Foundation Board, part of the American Urological Association.

Dr. Harris M. Nagler, a urologist with Northwell Health’s Smith Institute for Urology in Lake Success, has been named president of the Urology Care Foundation Board, part of the American Urological Association. The Urology Care Foundation is committed to advancing urology research and education. Nagler’s term as president begins Jan. 1, 2018.

With offices in Great Neck and Manhattan, Nagler’s clinical practice focuses on male infertility, erectile dysfunction and general urology. He is a professor of urology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

An active member of the UCF Board, Nagler will succeed Dr. Richard A. Memo, who has led the Maryland-based Urology Care Foundation since 2014.

“I am honored to continue my commitment to the Foundation and its mission in this new role,” said Nagler. “Supporting and improving the prevention, detection and treatment of urological conditions and disease through research and education is part of the fabric of our profession. Continuing to do it here, with an organization of such stature and trustworthiness remains a privilege.”

Over the last year, Nagler has helped drive the Foundation’s outreach and development efforts, making great strides in establishing the UCF as the single largest resource for medically approved urologic patient education information. The organization also supports research funding for many of our young scientists dedicated to preventing, diagnosing and treating urologic conditions and diseases.

“I’m confident Dr. Nagler, through his own wisdom and wealth of expertise, will continue the strong, inspired leadership to which we have grown so accustomed,” said AUA President, Dr. J. Brantley Thrasher.

Nagler has been recognized numerous times in New York Magazine’s Best Doctors, Best Doctors in America and The New York Times’ Super Doctors listings. Additionally, he has been listed in the Best Doctors in the United States and has been recognized in “Becker’s Hospital Review” as one of the 130 Nonprofit Hospital Leaders to Know, as well as one of the 300 Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know.

He has served on the boards of many organizations, including the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction and the New York Section of the AUA.

Nagler previously served as president of Beth Israel Medical Center and Chair of the Sol and Margaret Berger Department of Urology at Beth Israel Medical Center and Professor of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
