Roslyn School District Budget Vote & Election — Tuesday, May 17, 2022

The Roslyn School District’s proposed 2022-2023 budget was approved by the Board of Education on Thursday, April 7, 2022. The proposed property tax levy increase of 2.48% is well below the tax cap limit of 3.70%, with a budget increase of 2.93%. This is the thirteenth consecutive year that the District’s budget has been below the tax levy limit imposed by New York State.

The $122,145,193 budget meets instructional requirements and is sensitive to current events and the economic climate. It sustains the district’s high-quality academic standards, supports athletic, music, art, and extra-curricular programs, enhances cyber security measures, supplements health and wellness initiatives, and continues necessary capital improvements while remaining well below the permissible tax levy limit.

Residents are encouraged to review the district’s comprehensive budget plan on the school website — www.roslynschools.org.

In addition to the school budget (Proposition 1), the following will also be on the ballot:

● Proposition 2 — 2022-2023 budget for the Bryant Library

● Proposition 3 — Authorizing financing for new school buses and vans, continuing the district’s ongoing program of replacing the oldest vehicles in the district’s bus fleet.

● Proposition 4 – Authorizing expenditures from two existing Construction Capital Reserve Funds established for the purpose of performing various projects.

● Election of three trustees to the Board of Education. The order in which they will appear on the ballot: Robert Koonin, Alison Gilbert, and Bruce Valauri.
