Sen. Phillips sponsors ‘H2O for Puerto Rico’ bottled water drive
Sen. Elaine Phillips

Senator Elaine Phillips, in partnership with Long Island Cares, is sponsoring “H2O For Puerto Rico,” a bottled water donation drive to aid victims of Hurricane Maria in need of clean drinking water.

“As Long Islanders we know first-hand the importance of safe drinking water and have made it our priority to protect our sole source water aquifers for future generations,” Phillips said. “Right now, millions of residents of Puerto Rico are in dire need of clean drinking water following the devastation from Hurricane Maria. My office is partnering with Long Island Cares for an ‘H2O for Puerto Rico’ campaign to collect bottled water for our fellow Americans. Just as communities all across Long Island came together to support those in Florida and Texas, I am confident residents will unite once again to aid Puerto Rico’s need for water.”

The drive will run until Dec. 31 and has a goal of 2,400 bottles. Patrons can drop off bottled water at Phillips’ office, located at 252 Mineola Boulevard in Mineola, or donate water online by going to her website and clicking on the donation logo on the homepage.

Additional partners and drop-off locations will also be listed on Phillips’ website.
