Teens raise funds for children with cancer with Champions for Charity event

A group of Long Island teen volunteers, known as the Sunrise STEAM Team and Jr. Crew, will be using social media to promote a kickoff cocktail party and shopping event at Rag & Bone, one of over 70 retail stores participating in Americana Manhasset’s Annual Champions for Charity. Since its inception in 1996, Champions for Charity has raised $12 million to support local non-profit organizations.

The kickoff event, chaired by Aurily Sandler, Austin Coven, Jennifer Krasin and Marlee Krasin, will be held on Nov. 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Rag & Bone will host an evening of shopping, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres where a portion of all sales generated will benefit the shopper’s charity of choice, including Sunrise Day Camp, the only day camp in the world for children with cancer and their siblings, offered free of charge.

The teens will be using photos on social media featuring STEAM Team Ambassadors Ali Carvajal, Justin Hertz, Maia Kirchner and Miles Miller modeling clothes from Rag & Bone, a brand synonymous with innately wearable clothing that innovatively melds classic tailoring with an edgy yet understated New York aesthetic. Ashley Hill, of Port Washington, a former Wilhelmina model, actress, stunt woman and TEAM USA Karate champion joined the STEAM Team Ambassadors in the shoot and will also help promote this event which will help bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer. Can’t make the event? From Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 you can participate in the Americana Manhasset’s Champions for Charity event.   Over 70 participating Americana Manhasset and select Wheatley Plaza stores will donate 25 percent of designated full-price pre-tax purchases to the participating organizations of the customer’s choice.

Purchases are not automatically eligible; you must register for a complimentary Champion Number, designate Sunrise Association as your charity of choice, and present your Champion Number when making purchases during the event.
