March is Youth Art Month and The Hillside Public Library is having an Art Supply Drive for NYU Langone Child Life Program.  Needed items are Coloring Books and Crayons.  Our patrons and community are always very generous with their donations, and we thank you in advance for your generosity in this latest Drive.

Paint Night: Sketching and Acrylics with Alma – Virtual

Friday, March 10 at 7 p.m. Abstract Art: Celebrate Women’s History Month!  Try something new this month: Alma will demonstrate abstract painting, a different perspective of color and shapes and interpretation of the physical world, that will complement your sketching and painting skills. For beginners to advanced sketchers and painters. Everyone is welcome. Enjoy a fun and relaxing evening painting in the comfort of your own home!  For a list of supplies needed, please go to the library’s website!

VITA Tax Aide “Free”                                                                                                   

Free assistance is available for persons with incomes, $70,000 or less, who wish to have their taxes prepared by trained volunteers in the Volunteer Tax Assistance Program. You can call the library at 516 355-7850, x101 or 102 to schedule an appointment on any of the following days: Saturdays, March 11, 18 or 25; April 1, 8 or 15.  The following are the appointment times: 10:15 a.m.; 11:15 a.m.; 12:15 p.m. or 1:15 p.m.

Stony Brook Health Education: Women’s Cancers – Virtual

Tuesday, March 14 at 12 noon. Jackie and Giuseppina of Stony Brook Cancer Center teach us about cancers that primarily affect women or people assigned female at birth. Learn about the importance of knowing your body, early detection and screening guidelines for specific cancers. This program is brought to you courtesy of Nassau Libraries Health Share.

Wednesday, March 15 at 1:30 p.m. W. Zehava Schechter, Esq. discusses Basic Estate Planning for everyone, including drafting a Last Will and Testament, assigning a Durable Power of Attorney and Health Care Proxy, plus other actions to take to make sure your assets get to the people you choose, and minimize income, gift and estate taxes.

Stemtastic: Doodle Bots! – All Purpose Room

Monday, March 13 at 5:30 p.m. Ages: 4 years- 6 years (with parent/caregiver). Build and design your own bot! You can give it a face and some antennae and of course, a name, then we’ll set it loose on some paper and watch it doodle away! Each participant will get their own bot to take home.
