In October,  New Hyde Park-Mineola Runners Club hosted their 44th annual USA Track & Field L.I. Division 8K Championship Race at Clinton G. Martin Park.

At the monthly meeting in November, the runners discussed the 8K, their upcoming December holiday party, and preliminary plans for next year’s 8K which they hope to again host at Clinton G. Martin Park, continuing a tradition of growing the sport, health, fitness and community.

The Runners Club is one of the oldest continuous running clubs on L.I., their 8K is the second oldest race on L.I. (by a few weeks).

Proceeds from the annual event support the race, extra proceeds are distributed to local charities and non-profits, including, the Mineola and Garden City Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps and junior firefighters; Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior program; local boys and girls scout troops; civics organizations such as the Lakeville Estates Civics Association, Mineola Historical Society, and others.

The runners are about sport, health, fitness, and community. Runners and walkers are welcome; different groups are active all week. For information about the runners, their social events, and to join a growing active organization, please visit their website: https://www.newhydeparkrunners.com/
