A woman was dragged away as a man attempted to steal her Range Rover while she was fueling up at a gas station in Glen Head on Wednesday morning, police say.

A white Porsche can be seen pulling up alongside the SUV just before 11 a.m. at a 76 gas station on 676 Glen Cove Road on security camera video. A passenger is seen leaving the car, entering the victim’s vehicle and driving away.

The 42-year-old woman and owner of the vehicle, who chose to be identified as “Cindy,” held onto the passenger side as she was dragged onto Glen Cove Road.

The SUV halted near the intersection of Glen Cove and Glen Head roads. The thief then took her purse and laptop and got back into the other car, which then drove away, police say.

Cindy was treated for minor injuries at the scene, including cuts and bruises to her hands, wrists and ankles.

She told ABC 7 News that she had left her SUV running but thought the doors were locked. Her husband said that the thieves abandoned the SUV because Cindy had the key fob.

Police described the suspect as a black man, 5’9″ with a thin build, wearing a dark-colored jacket and Adidas striped track pants. They said the other men in the Porsche were also Black adult men.

Police ask those with information to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911.
