A man believed to be 22 years old was hit and killed by a train near the Long Island Rail Road’s Plandome station early Saturday morning, according to officials from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

A westbound train near the Plandome station passed through shortly after 5:30 a.m.  Saturday, officials said. The identity of the individual who was killed by the train had not yet been released by MTA or law enforcement officials as of Tuesday.

Efforts to reach the transit agency or police for a further update on the incident were unavailing.

Long Island Rail Road service was suspended between the Port Washington and Great Neck stations for roughly three hours after the incident before it was restored, according to MTA officials.
