Herricks returns to business following budget vote

By Madeline Armstrong

The Herricks Board of Education held a meeting last week which began with the members recognizing those who are retiring at the end of this school year, including Superintendent Fino Celano.

The May 19 meeting was short since there were no longer any budget presentations after the budget was passed with a 70 percent majority two days beforehand. After congratulating the district on this, the board went on to approve business items.

This included the appointment of additional election workers for the budget and trustee vote. The action to appoint a certified athletic trainer was also approved.

The board gave a green light to appoint consultants for the 2022 summer writing program and the annual school fire inspection. The board also agreed to the rejection of electrical bids for renovations at Herricks High School.

There were no comments from the public.
