Six people escaped a house fire in New Hyde Park on Tuesday that is under investigation by the arson bomb squad.

At 6:36 a.m., Third Precinct police responded to a house fire at 1 Hillside Blvd., according to detectives. The Floral Park, South Floral Park, Floral Park Center, New Hyde Park, Garden City Park, Mineola and Manhasset fire departments responded as well, in addition to the Nassau County fire marshal.

Police report that heavy smoke was coming out of a third-floor window upon their arrival. After kicking in the back door of the house, they safely evacuated the six occupants and a dog, who were on the second floor of the house. No injuries were reported.

Damage to the house was moderate to heavy, police said. It took 12 fire vehicles and 75 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

The investigation is ongoing.
