A man was charged with unlawful imprisonment Tuesday after a police investigation concluded he was responsible for holding a woman and three children in a car and refusing to release them, according to Nassau County police.
Officers were called to a Mobil gas station on Glen Cove Road in Roslyn Heights Tuesday afternoon where a witness reported a woman in a car holding a sign that said “Please call 911, CALL 911,” according to a police report.
Police determined that William Jamal Wilkinson, 36, forced the woman and her three children into the black 2005 Ford Taurus, the report said. Two of the boys in the car were 3 years old and the other was 13. Police did not release the name of the woman.
Wilkinson, of Ridge, was arrested at 1:27 p.m. and charged with four counts of unlawful imprisonment in the first degree, two of endangering the welfare of an incompetent physically disabled person in the first degree, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of marijuana.
The gas station is located at 449 Glen Cove Road.
He was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
