Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) recently joined with his colleagues in government, community leaders, and Plainview-Old Bethpage School District administrators, students, and faculty members for an open dialogue on the topic of antisemitism and the collaborative steps that can be taken to combat hatred in our society.

During this Wednesday, Jan. 18 meeting, the multigenerational gathering spoke about the root causes of antisemitism; discussed the positive and negative impacts of social media; the role of educational settings in combating antisemitism; and steps that the community can take in fighting and reporting all forms of antisemitic bias incidents.

The meeting was an outgrowth of the Nassau County Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, which Legislator Drucker spearheaded the creation of during the summer of 2021.

“Education must be at the core of any campaign to ensure that hatred and bigotry have no place in our society,” Legislator Drucker said. “All of us involved with the Nassau County Task Force to Combat Antisemitism cherish the opportunity to work collaboratively with our students as part of our mission to eradicate bigotry and ignorance in our society, and we look forward to future opportunities to share our mission and message with school districts across our County.
