Legislator Siela A. Bynoe Applauds Vote to Elevate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to U.S. Supreme Court

On Thursday, April 7, the United States Senate voted 53-47 to approve Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, making her the first Black woman to be appointed to the nation’s highest court. Following the vote, Nassau County Legislator Siela A. Bynoe (D – Westbury) issued the following statement:

“The elevation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to our nation’s highest court represents a crucial milestone in our society’s ongoing struggle for equity,” Legislator Bynoe said. “This historic moment fills my heart with hope, and I am truly excited for how Justice Jackson’s achievements will inspire the young people of Nassau County and our nation to boldly pursue their dreams.”
