Ruka Anzai, 45, of Jericho, is a first-time candidate for Assembly District 13 on the Republican and Conservative tickets. She said she is running because the government lacks common sense.
Born in China, educated in Japan and immigrated to the United States 12 years ago, Anzai has a degree and a professional background in engineering. She currently works for the federal government as an IT Professional. She is also the vice president of the Jericho Republican Club.
Earlier this year, she was honored by Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Tom Hand for protecting the quality of life in her community and commitment to service.
Anzai has said the American way of life is under attack. Recently approved bail regulations have “freed killers, drug dealers and gang members,” her campaign website states. She said that she will repeal hazardous bail policies and punish violent offenders accountable if elected.
Her primary campaign messages include eliminating present bail laws, “refunding” the police and making the Property Tax Rebate permanent.
Anzai said that a genuine tax reduction is required. She also stated that she will seek to make the gas tax rollback permanent as well as to eliminate congestion pricing.
Assembly District 13 comprises Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Plainview, Woodbury, Glenwood Landing, Cove Neck, Centre Island and Jericho as well as residents in parts of Bayville, Oyster Bay, Oyster Bay Cove, Laurel Hollow, Syosset, Old Bethpage, Bethpage, Hicksville, Westbury/New Cassel, Muttontown, Brookville, East Hills, Greenvale, Roslyn, Roslyn Heights and Roslyn Harbor.
