New waterfront eatery arrives in Port Washington

Nino’s Beach is the effort of a second-generation Italian family to provide fine cuisine to Port Washington.

Located on the Safe Harbor Marina, the owners and brothers, Michael and Franco Vendome, are not new to the restaurant business.

The brothers began their careers at Nino’s 46, a family-owned restaurant in midtown Manhattan that has been open since 1982. Their parents, who came from Southern Italy, opened it.

The two brothers later opened Nino’s AQ in Astoria, Queens, a modern contemporary Italian restaurant. However, they have now set their sights on Nassau County.

The Port Washington Chamber of Commerce expressed its delight with Nino’s Beach’s arrival.

“They did a beautiful renovation of the restaurant, which takes full advantage of their waterside location,” said Bobbie Polay, the executive director of Port Washington’s Chamber of Commerce. “Nino’s Beach will be sure to attract people to Port Washington for a delicious meal and spectacular view.”

Michael, a St. John’s University hospitality graduate, will supervise the beverage program, while Franco, the executive chef and a French Culinary Institute graduate, will oversee the food. Chef Ken Corrow will oversee and manage the kitchen and employees at Nino’s Beach as Chef De Cuisine.

A large sparkling wine and champagne range, as well as an extensive craft cocktail menu, compliment the seafood-centric cuisine.

The interior of the restaurant is textured with stone, brass, Venetian plaster and unique wall coverings. The space is around 9,500 square feet and can seat 200 people.
