After two years of cancellations due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce announced that HarborFest will return this year.

The annual event, which promotes local businesses and vendors, will take place on June 5 for its 30th anniversary. Bobbie Polay, executive director of the chamber, said this year’s celebration will feature a variety of special activities in an effort to make the HarborFest “the best ever.”

“We are thrilled to announce the return of HarborFest and hope you will be part of the excitement for this beloved community event,” Polay said in an email to the community. “On Sunday, June 5, the Manhasset Bay waterfront will come alive to the delight of thousands of residents and visitors who flock to the Town Dock to enjoy this environmentally focused nautical festival.”

The annual celebration traditionally spans from lower Main Street to the Town Dock, showcasing Port Washington merchants, cuisine and organizations. Events this year include a craft show, cruises around the Manhasset Bay, kayaking and paddleboarding, art in the park, entertainment at the Sousa Bandshell and The Tugboat, along with activities for family and children.

When the event got canceled in 2020 less than a month into the pandemic, Polay said businesses needed time to properly recover from the financial hardships. Two years later, she said, the chamber is “very excited” to finally celebrate 30 years of promoting the businesses and individuals that make up the Port Washington peninsula.

In the email, Polay included applications for participation and booth space that are available on the chamber’s website. Sponsorship forms are also included, ranging from $250 to $5,000. Admiral Sponsors, for $5,000, will have their business’ name on the HarborFest banners at the Town Dock and Weber fence along with recognition in local newspapers, social media posts, public announcements and the chamber’s website.
