How is it possible to take anything Larry Penner says seriously when he can’t even spell the name of the LIRR President correctly? Her last name is “Rinaldi,” not “Renaldi.” Does the author ever double-check his opinion pieces?
Aside from satisfying his insatiable desire to see his name in print what precisely is he accomplishing with his opinion piece in which he wonders why Rinaldi is not permanent? More importantly, what does it matter? Is Mr. Penner the head of a personnel agency that stands to make money if she becomes permanent?
In case it missed Mr. Penner’s notice, the LIRR is the LIRR. Whether Rinaldi is temporary or permanent. No matter who is running it. It will continue to provide mostly reliable service with occasional issues with service. It will incur overtime overruns and operate in the red. This will continue until the fall of the republic. No matter who is in charge.
