The Old Westbury Board of Trustees allowed Bolla Operating L.I. to get extra gas deliveries at a Jericho Turnpike location on Tuesday night, but held off on a decision about its longtime deli.

Bolla Operating L.I., which operates a Mobil Gas Station and Bolla Market at 3 Jericho Turnpike in Old Westbury, has sought modifications to its special use permit – including replacing the market with Burger King service.

Brian Ridgway, the village administrator of Old Westbury, said the board did not come to a decision yet on Burger King because the board wants the village planner to review a traffic study.

“They have not made a final ruling on that,” Ridgway said.

Trustees did allow a modification to their special use permit, however, which will allow  extra gasoline delivery to the location.

“The board permitted an extra delivery of fuel between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the owner of the gas station said for safety reasons that he’ll close the station when deliveries are being made,” Ridgway said.

In other business, trustees approved an application from Levan and Jennifer Vartanov to modify a drainage reserve area at 5 Tatem Way.

Trustees also set a public hearing of Monday, March 16, for two new laws, including one to allow an override of the tax levy limit – if the village needs to – and a law involving road opening permits.

They also authorized public bids for well improvements and approved the final scope for the draft environmental impact statement for the application of Lubavitch of Old Westbury Inc.

Additionally, trustees signed off on Old Westbury Gardens’ 2020 calendar of events and Cullen and Kanowski LLP conducting an audit for the Village’s deferred compensation plan for $4,500.

The next board meeting will take place on Monday, March 16. Old Westbury meetings generally take place the third Monday of each month starting at 7 p.m.
