One person died after a vehicle accident early on Friday morning in North Hills according to police.
Around 3:15 a.m., a 2013 Mack Truck (tractor-trailer) was traveling eastbound in the right lane of the Long Island Expressway at exit 36 when it rear-ended a 1996 dump truck. The dump truck overturned because of the collision, according to a Nassau County police press release.
The 59-year-old man driving the dump truck was injured in the crash and sent to a local hospital. A staff doctor declared him dead at 4:14 a.m. owing to his injuries.
The 43-year-old male driver of the Mack truck was present at the site and did not sustain any injuries.
There is no sign of criminality. Police stated they are still investigating the matter.
