Herricks High School senior Carolyn Lau has earned a Gold Medal for her personal essay/memoir “As It Was” in the 2023 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Nationals.
This award is presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers to recognize students with exceptional artistic and literary talent. It is the highest level of recognition an entrant can achieve in this prestigious celebration of exceptional student writing. Lau will be honored later in June at Carnegie Hall with other honorees.
The district wishes to congratulate Carolyn and her English Scholars Program Teacher Alan Semerdjian.
