Roslyn High School senior Huiqi Zhou has earned a perfect score on the 2023 Advanced Placement Drawing Exam. Not only did Huiqi receive the top score of 5, she was one of only 308 students in the world to earn every point possible on the exam.
This outstanding accomplishment places her among an elite group of artists who have demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity. Her dedication and commitment to her craft bring honor and recognition to the entire school community.
“Huiqi is an extremely talented artist. Her work is deeply introspective, with profound connections to her thoughts, her family constructs and her personal perception of beauty,” Roslyn Hight School art teacher Rich Ritter said. “During the creation of her AP Drawing portfolio, she practiced, experimented and revised many ideations of her concepts. Her final portfolio contained ten complete pieces that visually interpreted her Sustained Investigation inquiries, plus a written explanation, which earned her a perfect score.”
“She is a stellar artist who represents the very best of Roslyn,” Roslyn High School Assistant Principal Dave Lazarus said. “Her art invites viewers to see beyond the superficial and first impressions and challenges their thinking.”
“This outstanding accomplishment is likely a direct reflection of the top-quality education being offered at Roslyn High School,” wrote Trevor Packer, Head of the Advanced Placement Program, in a letter to Roslyn High School Principal Scott Andrews. “We applaud Huiqi’s hard work and the AP teacher responsible for engaging students and enabling them to excel in a college-level course.”
