The Hillside Library is combining with the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless in doing a Hats, Scarves and Glove Drive. There is a bin at the library in which donations could be placed. Our community has always been very generous to our Donation Drives, and we thank you for your continued generosity.

Trivia Time – At the Movies – All Purpose Room
Saturday, February 4 at 11 a.m. Join us for a fun movie trivia game at the library. From silent films to Marvel and Disney, get ready to test your movie knowledge!

AARP Tax Aide – All Purpose Room
AARP-trained volunteers will prepare tax returns for low-to-moderate income seniors on: Mondays; 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:45 p.m.; February 6-April 10. Appointments are required. Call the library at 516 355-7850, Ext. 101 or 102 to make an appointment. For a list of the documents you need to bring, please go to the library’s website.

Fall Prevention Workshop – Virtual
Tuesday, February 7 at 12 noon. 2-Part Fall Prevention Workshop. “Leaves Are Supposed to Fall…People Aren’t” *Please register ONLY ONCE to be included in both sessions.
Part 1: Covers Falls, Risks, Gait and Balance, and Home Safety
Part 2: Covers Vision, Hearing Loss, Feet & Footwear, Community Safety, Osteoporosis, Weather, Infections, and How to get up safely from a fall. (Tuesday, February 14, 2023).

Fiction Loves History Book Club – 1st Floor Modular Room and Virtual
Tuesday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. The book being discussed is: The Only Woman in the Room by Marie Benedict. A powerful book based on the incredible true story of the glamour icon and scientist, Hedy Lamarr.

Medicare 2023 Updates and Options – All Purpose Room
Wednesday, February 8 at 12 noon. The Nassau County Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) is offering an informative session on Medicare 2023 Updates and Options including NYS Legislative changes, Social Security and Medicare cost of living and premium increases. This program is designed for existing and new Medicare members.

Thursday, February 9 at 12:30 p.m. Bring your questions! Dr. Svrakic of Northwell Health will discuss your questions, plus the prevalence of hearing loss; why hearing loss should be treated and what happens if it is not.

Filling Our Hearts with Love Through Meditation – Virtual
Thursday, February 9 at 6:30 p.m. Join long time meditator Ajili Hodari, Esq. as he offers this engaging workshop on how to use the practice of meditation to transform the heart. The workshop will include how to incorporate more love and peace in your life which will have a profound transformation on your overall well-being. The workshop will include a short meditation session. Ajili Hodari, Esq. attended Michigan State University as a scholar athlete where he received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in Advertising. Hereceived his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1990. He practices in Seattle WA and manages his own firm Hodari Law Office PLLC. Paint Night: Sketching and Acrylics with Alma – Virtual

Saturday, February 11 at 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Join master Chocolatier Melinda Space and create a Bear of a Valentine Hot Cocoa Bomb to share with family and friends – or enjoy for yourself! This program is for 18+

YA Art Club – All Purpose Room
Friday, February 3 at 5 p.m. Grades 5 – 12. No experience necessary, beginners welcome!Not used to painting? Come on down! Already love art? Join us for more! By using a template and carbon tracing paper, everyone will have the chance to make a fun project that will be displayed in our YA Room. All projects will be given back the following class/month.

Stemtastic: Mythical Creatures! – All Purpose Room
Monday, February 6 at 5:30 p.m. Ages: 4 – 6 years (with parent/caregiver). We’ll perform a variety of experiments to help us understand the legends of dragons and unicorns. We’ll build a unicorn horn and make a flying dragon!

Bee Mine Teddy Bear Workshop! – All Purpose Room
Wednesday, February 8 at 4:30 p.m. Grades: 1-3. Enjoy some Valentine stories & stuff your very own Bee Mine Bear to love at home! Materials fee: $7

Play Hooray – Children’s Room
Friday, February 10 at 11 a.m. Ages: 9 months – 5 years (with parent/caregiver). Stories, music and movement activities with Mollie the Mouse!
