Harry Coghlan, CEO/Executive Director of The Nassau County Industrial Development Agency

Professionally, I direct the NCIDA’s operations and efforts to pursue economic development projects for Nassau County primarily through business retention and attraction efforts.

I am privileged to work with a dedicated staff of outstanding professionals who are committed to fostering sustainable, economic/business growth and development strategies that help elevate and enhance the County’s competitiveness.

We work as partners with the business community to find solutions to challenges facing companies looking to start or grow their businesses in Nassau County.

It is our honor to serve the business community of Nassau County and the entire Long Island region, in particular small business, which is the lifeblood of our local economy. Please visit us at: www.nassauida.org/about-the-ncida

I have a B.S. in Accounting from Wagner College and an MBA from St. John’s University.

Personally, my wife and I have been residents of Merrick for fifteen years where we have raised our daughter who is now a student in The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. We enjoy taking advantage of all that Nassau County has to offer from our beautiful beaches to our many local downtowns and everything in between.

How do you see your business evolving due to the changing times?
COVID accelerated both the remote-work flexible-hours economy and the growing demand for readily accessible data and analytics.

The NCIDA responded by developing a top-to-bottom new website including the necessary data, updated in real-time, for business executives and site selection specialists to justify considering locating in Nassau County. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for an executive considering Nassau County as their location to state their case.

Additionally, we intend to leverage recent investments into prospecting and lead-generation training and technologies to market the county to companies located outside of New York State. We are in the process of developing an outbound marketing strategy, Nassau County has so much to offer, we just need to tell the story.

What advice would you give other business owners?
Take advantage of the outstanding business ecosystem available across the entire island. There are many valuable, passionate, and committed organizations ready to assist, we encourage you to reach out directly to the NCIDA, the local chamber of commerce, Blank Slate Media, or the Long Island Association as a first point of contact.

Any one of us will be pleased to point you in the right direction. And please do feel free to follow the NCIDA on social media as we routinely promote available resources to the business community.
