Joseph M. Moretta, Supply Chain Planner, Zebra Technologies

Joseph M. Moretta, a Long Island native, is a supply chain planner with Zebra Technologies, located in Holtsville, where he has developed a wide-ranging knowledge from supply chain management and procurement to inventory optimization and analytics.

The experience he has gained in his chosen field has allowed him the opportunity to provide an audience and outreach to the local professional and collegiate communities.

Joe has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Farmingdale State College, where early on, he became involved in professional organizations and was offered an opportunity in 2017 to serve on the all-volunteer professional board of directors for the Association of Supply Chain Management, New York City-Long Island Forum. He currently serves as Director of Program Development.

ASCM (formerly known as APICS), is a globally known nonprofit organization that is committed to professional development, collaboration, education and networking for Supply Chain professionals, students and educators.

As part of his work with ASCM, Joe is the founder, producer and host of ASCM NYC LI Presents Supply Chain Briefs, which has been recognized as one of the top 20 supply chain podcasts (Feedspot.org) in the United States.

The mission of the podcast is to interview supply chain leaders, industry professionals and educators to discuss changing supply chain topics and provide a forum for dialogue for a greater understanding for professionals, and next-gen industry entrants.

Joe is always looking to expand the outreach for the next generation of professionals that will help move the needle in a much-needed career path for those yet to discover it. To say Joe has a passion for supply chain is an understatement. Beyond the professional, Joe has another story he tells.

Joe has always had a heart for reaching out to youth and college students. Early in his youth, Joe met with some personal medical challenges when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor that allowed him to see a side of his life that could be met with anger, and questions of “why me,” but was able to turn them into a question of “why NOT me?”

Over a number of years as he has progressed and overcome the odds, Joe has been invited to be a public speaker to share his experience.

During that time, he has developed a moving and timely outlook by turning the mirror around, saying to others, “You are not the summation of the things that have happened to you. Circumstances don’t define you; you have to define the circumstance. Your story matters.”
