Movie! A Christmas Carol – Release Year: 1951. All Purpose Room

Friday, December 8 at 1 p.m. “A first-rate adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel about Ebenezer Scrooge, a London miser who, despite his wealth, refuses to make charitable contributions and treats his sole employee, Bob Cratchit, as an indentured servant. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge (Alastair Sim) is visited by the ghost of his selfish business partner, Jacob Marley, and then by three more spirits that same night, an experience that forever changes his life.”

Paint Night: Holiday Llama! – Virtual

Friday, December 8 at 7 p.m. Sketching and Acrylics with Alma for everyone! December 9 is National Llama Day! Llamas aren’t just adorable, majestic creatures, they’re also a big help to people all over the world. National Llama Day is the perfect day to appreciate one of the fuzziest social farm animals around. For a list of supplies needed, please go to the library’s website.

Holiday Sing Along with Marilyn McClean – All Purpose Room

Sunday, December 10 at 2 p.m. Join us for a Sing Along with Marilyn McClean, featuring some of your favorite holiday and snow themed songs! No singing experience is required!

All are welcome to come and sing along to some of the most popular holiday songs of all time or come and enjoy an afternoon of good cheer.

Mobile Device Basics-iOS – 1st Floor Modular Room

Monday, December 11 at 6:30 p.m. This workshop is for those who have a new iOS mobile device, or are considering getting one, and want to learn more about the basic functions. It will support attendees to get connected, identify common apps, and build confidence in using their device safely.  This class is only intended for those with an iPhone or Apple mobile device.

Stony Brook Health Education: Focus on HPV and Cervical Cancer – Virtual

Tuesday, December 12 at 12 noon. HPV and Cancer: Know the Facts: Come join Health Educators form Stony Brook Cancer Center to learn about the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), and the cancers it causes. HPV infection can cause 6 different cancers. We will be discussing causes of HPV, how to prevent it, and screenings available.

Armchair Historians Book club – 1st Floor Modular Room and Virtual

Wednesday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m. The book being discussed is: The Monster’s Bones: The Discovery of the T. Rex and How it Shook the World by David K. Zombie Laser Tag! – All Purpose Room

Friday, December 8 at 4:30 p.m. Grades: 2-4. Join us for Zombie Tag- a STEM based version of laser tag using watch-like devices (gunless).

Stemtastic: Holiday Chemistry Lab!  – All Purpose Room

Monday, December 11 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: 4 years- 6 years (with parent/caregiver). We’ll use our knowledge of chemistry to make our own play doh and stress release scented dough balls that can be given as holiday gifts!

Winter Ornament Program! – Children’s Room

Wednesday, December 13 at 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  Family Fun! Create some family holiday cheer by making 4 homemade winter ornaments you will cherish for years to come! Choose 2 ornaments to take home after the program and leave 2 ornaments at the library to help decorate the Children’s Room Winter Tree. (You will be able to take home your additional ornaments in January).

**Each family will receive one ornament kit to share. (Each kit makes 4 individual ornaments.)

**All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Holiday Ceramics! – All Purpose Room

Friday, December 15 at 4 p.m. Grades: 1-4.  Select a festive ceramic piece to paint! A perfect gift for a loved one this holiday season. Material Fee: $3
