PROGRAMS and EVENTS

The Library is sponsoring a Valentines for Vets, in conjunction with Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti’s office, where you can come into the library and make cards for our veterans; you can also bring in already made cards to honor our veterans.  In addition, the library is also partnering with Assemblyman, Ed Ra’s office, in a collection for the Long Island State Veterans Home. Needed items are: personal care items (toothpaste,

shampoo, deodorant, soap etc.) puzzle books/adult coloring books& crayons, magnifying glasses or sheets, new clothing items (sweatshirts, sweatpants, & undershirts. We thank our patrons for any items you can donate to our brave Veterans.

Sunday, February 4 at 1 p.m. “Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.”

AARP Tax Aide – All Purpose Room Appointments are required.

Go Red for Women! Women and Heart Disease – Virtual

Thursday, February 8 at 1 p.m. Community Health Educator Nurse Maura Calio presents: Go Red for Women! Women and Heart Disease. Celebrate American Heart Month by learning how women’s hearts differ from men’s hearts and also learn some heart healthy nutrition tips.

Friday, February 9 at 1 p.m. “Interracial couple Richard and Mildred Loving fell in love and were married in 1958. They grew up in Central Point, a small town in Virginia that was more integrated than surrounding areas in the American South. Yet it was the state of Virginia, where they were making their home and starting a family, that first jailed and then banished them. Richard and Mildred relocated with their children to the inner city of Washington, D.C., but the family ultimately tries to find a way back to Virginia leading to a landmark Supreme Court decision.”

Thursday, February 8 at 5 p.m. Ages: 5-9 years. Enjoy some cute & loveable books & stuff your very own 15′ Puppy Love! Material Fee: $7 

Time for Kids: Valentine’s Day Surprise! – Children’s Room

Friday, February 9 at 1:30 p.m. Ages: 12 months- 5 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join a Time for Kids, Inc. as we celebrate in this family fun preschool program. Activities include music, movement, fine & gross motor development and storytelling! There will also be a Valentine’s Day Craft!

Move N’ Groove with Ms. Jane!  – All Purpose Room

Saturday, February 10 at 11 a.m. Ages: 4- 5 years (with parent/caregiver). Get ready for some fun action and groovin’! Be up and moving in this class while having fun and teaming up in activities. Remember to bring a water bottle.
