Village of Great Neck Mayor Pedram Bral and Trustees Anne Mendelson and Steven Hope secured another two-year term after running uncontested Tuesday night.

The village joins Lake Success, Russell Gardens and Kings Point where incumbents swept the ballots in uncontested races.

Bral secured 454 total votes while Mendelson and Hope secured 430 and 415 votes respectively with a total of 1,337 votes cast.

“Thank you everybody who came out to vote even though it’s a non-contested election,” Bral said at the board meeting immediately following the polls closing. “It does mean a lot to hear that people actually care and they appreciate what we have done. We appreciate their support and hope that we can lead the community to a brighter future, continue building the bond between the communities, revitalize Middle Neck Road and have a new village hall hopefully soon.”

After defeating former Mayor Ralph Kreitzman in 2015, Bral faced challengers in his 2017 and 2019 re-election campaigns. He most recently won an uncontested election in 2021, receiving 939 votes.

In Lake Success, Deputy Mayor Gene Kaplan won another two-year term after being re-elected alongside Trustees Lawrence Farkas and Mariann Lee.

Kaplan had 57 votes cast while Lee and Farkas received 54 and 51, respectively. There were no write-in votes cast.

Village of Russell Gardens Mayor David Miller won re-election with 31 votes. Miller was the lone member of the village’s board of trustees on the ballot this year.

This election was the first where a mayor in the village ran for a four-year term after the board voted in 2019 to extend the terms from two to four years.

Village of Kings Point Trustees Hooshang Nematzadeh and Ira Nesenoff both won another two-year term on the village’s board of trustees.

Nematzadeh had 126 votes while Nesenoff had 99 votes. There were no write-in votes cast.

Nematzadeh has served on the board since 2012 and is the board’s deputy mayor. He has lived in Kings Point for almost 20 years and has served on the village’s planning board.

The president of Nemat Homes Inc., Nematzadeh is a member of the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce and is the former executive vice president of the Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York and the United Mashadi Jewish Community of America.

Nematzadeh previously told Blank Slate Media his goal as deputy mayor is to uphold the quality of life in Kings Point, raise revenues, cut expenses and make sure the board is as efficient as possible. He said the board has been effective in working together to achieve these common goals.

Nesenoff has been a resident of Kings Point for more than two decades and has served on the village’s zoning board for roughly the same amount of time.

Nesenoff is a managing partner of Nesenoff & Miltenberg law firm, handling real estate litigation and other matters based out of New York City.
