The Great Neck South High School Art Club created a custom painting for New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital staff that was unveiled on May 22.

Dr. Cynthia Pan initiated this project, which entailed months of communication and collaboration between hospital staff and students to help bring the vision to fruition.

The Hospital staff were prompted: “What inspires you to be a star in providing excellent patient care at NYPQ?”

Staff wrote their responses on stars created by the Art Club, which students later integrated into a large painting showcasing notable Queens landmarks such as the Queensboro Bridge and the Unisphere.

During an appreciation event, NYPQ officials unveiled the artwork and honored their residents and Art Club members.

South High students were presented with certificates in appreciation of their work, and they met a number of medical professionals who offered mentorship for students who aspire to enter the medical field.

Members of the South High Art Club are Axel Byub Dália Castilho, Christina Hui, Rachel Hung (President), Sophia Ko, Madeleine Lennox, Vicky Li, Paige Louie, Brenda Roman, Lauren Tan (Vice President), Katie Wang, Kaitlyn Wu (Treasurer), Joyce Xu (Secretary), and Wenya Zhang. The club’s faculty advisor is Megan Cashman, art teacher.
