Herricks High School junior Kriya Patel was featured in the Nassau Region PTA March 2022 Issue of The Leader for sharing her artistic talents with the students and staff at Searingtown Elementary School.

Initially, Kriya reached out to the Searingtown Elementary School PTA to see how she could uplift the students and staff at her former elementary school with positive messaging through her artistic talent and a few modest pieces of sidewalk chalk.

Throughout the month of October, Kriya and a group of talented high school students engaged in a ChalkFest, volunteering their time to draw festive and creative images for the school’s Health and Safety week, Mental Health Awareness Day, and even their Halloween celebration! In December, Kriya happily volunteered again to transform the front windows of her alma mater into a wintry wonderland.

The staff and students appreciated seeing the uplifting artwork and inspiring messages while coming in and out of the school!

The Nassau Region PTA serves PTA units and councils throughout Nassau County. The PTA is a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.
