As part of Nutrition Month at Heights, a section of the cafeteria was turned into a grocery store to teach young students about different food groups and to explain how food is brought to stores from farms in the United States and around the world.

To kick off the week, Principal Mary Wood put together a video presentation that showed her at Ferreira Foodtown (owned by local parents) where she interviewed different workers and captured a “behind the scenes” look at the inner workings of the supermarket.

In collaboration with the PFA, the “store” was stocked with non-perishable food donated by parents and the school community. Once the week-long lesson was complete, the food was donated to local food pantries.
