After a several-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation and Bicycle Playground are once again partnering to present the popular Bike Tour and BayWalk event on Sunday, May 19.

Both the Bike Tour and BayWalk will start and end in the commuter parking lot at the LIRR Station alongside Haven Avenue.

The 9th Bike Tour will have three lengths: the 14- and 21-mile tours begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 3.3-mile tour begins at 9:00 a.m.

The 4th BayWalk is a 3-mile round trip walk from the LIRR Station to BayWalk Park on Shore Road and back. Strollers are welcome on the BayWalk.

In addition to participant registration fees, donations of any amount are very appreciated and many sponsorship opportunities are available.

Participants are encouraged to ride/walk alone, with family members, or with a large group. Joining or forming a team and asking for donations to support your ride/walk is very exciting and helps the Leukemia Foundation raise even more money for research.

Organizing a team to show support for a loved one who is undergoing medical treatment of any kind is also a wonderful gesture.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to various institutes, hospitals, and other medical research agencies that specialize in researching a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin disease, myeloma, and all other aspects of blood diseases.

LSLF wishes to thank major sponsor The Peter and Jeri Dejana Foundation, along with the many organizations and municipalities for their cooperation and assistance: The Port Washington and Nassau County Police Departments, the Port Washington School District, the Town of North Hempstead, and the Incorporated Villages of Baxter Estates, Flower Hill, Manorhaven, Plandome, Port Washington North, and Sands Point.

Since its inception in 1986, the Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation has awarded over $470 million towards Discovery Grants that support research into the cause and treatment of leukemia and allied cancers.
