The Hillside Public Library is sponsoring a Basic First Aid Supplies Drive to support Ukraine. Needed items include Band Aids, Sterile Eye Dressings; Gauze Dressings; Safety Pins; Tweezers and Scissors; Skin Rash Creams; Pain Relievers and Digital Thermometers. There is a bin at the library for your donations, and we thank you for your generosity.

PROGRAMS and EVENTS
Stony Brook Cancer Center Health Education Series: Breast Cancer – Virtual Wednesday, April 20 at 12 noon. Know the Facts about Breast Cancer. Join Health Educators from Stony Brook Cancer Center for an overview of what breast cancer is, what causes it, symptoms to look for, and screening recommendations. *This program is brought to you courtesy of Nassau Libraries Health Share.

Vegetables and Flowers for the Early Spring Garden – Virtual and In Person: All Purpose Rm. 2nd. Floor
Wednesday, April 20 at 2 p.m. Celebrate Pauley the Plant Man’s Birthday with a lively discussion and in-person raffle! Learn about tomatoes, broccoli, lettuces, strawberries, hyacinths, tulips, Martha Washington geraniums, to name a few!

Mystery Book Club – Virtual and In Person: All Purpose Rm. 2nd. Floor Wednesday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. The book being discussed is: House of Correction by Nicci French. “In this heart-pounding standalone thriller from bestselling author Nicci French, a woman accused of murder attempts to solve her own case from the confines of prison—but as she unravels the truth, everything is called into question, including her own certainty that she is innocent.”

In-Person: Plant and Garden Club – Location is Modular Room – 1st Floor
Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. Calling all gardeners, of all levels and interests! Join the Plant and Garden Club and exchange seeds, rooted cuttings, and plants with fellow gardeners or all skills and interests. Let’s discuss composting, annuals and perennials, indoor and outdoor gardens, container gardens, terrariums (make your own!), and your problems and successes!
The Library Plant and Garden Club meets every 3rd Thursday of the month, from April through October 2022.

Virtual Tea Tasting: Healing Herbs & Wellness Ages: Teens to Adult
Thursday, April 21 at 7 p.m. Join Ms. Ambadjes in tasting a variety of tea with ingredients focused on healing and wellness. Tea goody bags can be picked up the week of the program so that you can sip along while learning about different types of teas. *Please only register if you plan on attending the virtual event. Tea goody bags are intended for those in attendance for virtual program.

Library Lovers…Kahoot Trivia Game Night! – Virtual
Tuesday, April 19 at 7 p.m. All Ages- Family Fun! Join Mr. B. & Miss Jessi and show your love for your library by celebrating National Library Week with some library trivia on your favorite bookish characters! *All Participants will be entered in a Raffle to receive a surprise.

Play Hooray- Location: Children’s Rm. 2nd Floor
Wednesday, April 20 at 1 p.m. Ages: 18 months & Up (with parent/caregiver). Stories, music and movement activities with Mollie the Mouse.

Virtual Paint Night
Friday, April 22 at 7 p.m. Grades 5 – 12. Join our artist Alma as she guides you through a virtual step-by-step painting. Beginner’s welcome. No experience necessary! Please go to the library’s website for a list of supplies needed.
