Michael Domingo, BSA Life Scout from New Hyde Park’s Troop 298, is seeking your assistance. His Eagle Scout Project aims to pay tribute to the military members of New Hyde Park who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Michael’s project involves constructing a Memorial Wall, at New Hyde Park’s Memorial Park, to dedicate honorary plaques to 57 service members from New Hyde Park who lost their lives defending our freedom during WWI, WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War.

The project is slated to be finished and unveiled during New Hyde Park’s Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on May 25, 2024, at 10:00 am.

When asked why BSA Life Scout Michael Domingo has chosen this project, he states: “Myself and the Village of New Hyde want to both recognize the sacrifice of these service members and further improve Memorial Park. While the park already contains memorial stones and branch flags, we believe it to be apropos and proper to honor the fallen in a more substantial and visible way. In the same vein as this, we wanted to honor those on the rock outside Village Hall in a new and larger space.”

Troop 298 Leader, Village Trustee, and American Legion Post 1089 Adjutant, Rainer Burger states: “The Village and our Veterans are humbled that Michael has taken on such a project to honor our fallen heroes. It is also one of the most ambitious Eagle projects ever undertaken by the Troop and we thank Michael.”

Each of the 57 plaques will feature the name, rank, branch, and date of death of the honored service member. The cost for each plaque is approximately $300. BSA Life Scout Michael Domingo is kindly requesting donations to help fund his project. You have the opportunity to sponsor one or multiple plaques and contribute to honoring our heroes. To donate, please write a check payable to “Troop 298” and mail check to: “Troop 298 Heroes Eagle Project, NHP Village Hall, 1420 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park NY 11040.”

If contributing for a plaque is not feasible, you may still support the cause by donating $5 to have an American Flag planted at Memorial Park on Memorial Day, or by providing a donation of any amount. To donate, please write a check and mail as described above. BSA Life Scout Michael Domingo and Troop 298 sincerely appreciate your support.
