Overcoming Stress and Anxiety Using Meditation – Virtual

Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. Join Dr. Matthew Raider, physician and longtime meditator as he teaches a simple meditation technique to increase personal well-being. There will even be a short meditation sitting. As a physician and long-time meditator, Dr. Raider has a strong interest in meditation and its relationship to health and disease prevention/treatment.

Tuesday, Sept. 26, 6 – 7:30 p.m. It’s the end of September and time to say goodbye to beach season!  Join Long Island artist Danielle Livoti and paint a lovely twilight beach scene to brighten the shorter days in your home till next season.  For beginners through advanced painters.  Patrons aged 18+ only.

What Seniors Don’t Know Can Bankrupt Them – All Purpose Room

Wednesday, Sept.  27 at 6 p.m. Elder Law attorney Robert J. Kurre discusses How to Protect the Assets of Aging and Incapacitated Persons.  Learn about the very important topic of long-term care planning, and financing it through Medicare, Medicaid and the Veterans Administration, long-term care insurance, reverse mortgages, and other methods. There are certain actions families can take so nursing home or other long-term care bills do not decimate life savings.

In-Person Property Tax Exemption Assistance – All Purpose Room

Thursday, September 28: 6 – 7:30 p.m. During this program, Town of North Hempstead Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman and his staff will explain to Nassau County homeowners how to apply for the many property tax exemptions available to County residents. Staff will be present to distribute and take applications, provide one-on-one assistance, and answer questions regarding exemption qualification requirements.

Craft Workshop: Paper Pumpkin Lanterns – All Purpose Room

Friday, September 29: 2 – 3 p.m. Feel cozy with these arty, elegant luminaries. They have a delicate leaf motif that looks beautiful by daylight or in the evening with a lit (flameless) tealight inside.  They can be easily used to light up and adorn any room, porch or even parties throughout Fall. Patrons aged 18+ only.

Time for Kids: The Wheels on the Bus  – All Purpose Room

Friday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. Ages: 12 months – 5 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. as we celebrate the “wheels on the bus” in this family fun preschool program. Activities include music, movement, fine & gross motor development and storytelling! There will also be a school bus craft!

Move N’ Groove with Ms. Jane! – All Purpose Room

Thursday, September 28 at 4:30 p.m. Grades: 2 – 3. Get ready for some fun action and groovin’! Be up and moving in this class while having fun and teaming up in activities. Remember to bring a water bottle.
