Nassau County Legislature Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello partnered with Mad Men Barbershop of Williston Park and the New Hyde Park Fire Department last Thursday to hand out surgical masks to seniors.

Nicolello distributed more than 2,000 masks at the New Hyde Park Fire House starting at 3 p.m. He was joined by New Hyde Park firefighters, as well as small business owners from the community who donated masks to be given out.

The masks were free of charge and limited to senior citizens. Those picking up masks could stay in their cars to limit risk of coronavirus exposure.

Mad Men Barbershop has distributed thousands of masks to community members since the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They have donated to the Merrick Fire Department, the Nassau County Correction Officers Benevolent Association and hospital workers and first responders throughout the community.

Nicolello has been involved in the region’s coronavirus response throughout the pandemic. His efforts include helping to pass an emergency bill to extend the tax deadline for residents and business owners, and partnering with Harry Chapin Food Bank to collect food for those affected by COVID-19.
