Mayor Jim Avena, Deputy Mayor Priscilla von Roeschlaub and Trustee Ken Kraft were all sworn in for a two-year term during Manorhaven’s annual organizational meeting last Thursday.

The three officials ran unopposed in the village election on June 19.

Sharon Natalie Abramski was reappointed as Village Clerk-Treasurer. Alexander Kovacevic was sworn in as Deputy Clerk for a two-year term. He was hired in April to replace Donald Badaczewski, who left the village to take a job with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington.

Jonathan Fielding was appointed as the new village attorney, replacing Steven Leventhal. A spokesman for the village said there was no specific reason for the switch.

Zygmunt Jagiello, Eugene Bowler, and Patrick Gibson were all reappointed as the chairs of the planning, architectural and zoning boards, respectively.

Despite some talk about possibly switching the Port Washington Police, Manorhaven will be under the protection of the Nassau County Police for at least another year. The Port Washington Fire Department will continue its service to the village.

Cameron Engineering, the firm behind the waterfront analysis that sparked controversy earlier this year, was retained as the primary engineer for the village.

Anker Electric will continue to maintain street lighting and Orchid Sewer and Contracting Corp will handle the village’s sewers, which the village will look to improve as part of a large project in the near future.

Dates for the Board of Trustees monthly meetings and work sessions for the coming year was set, as was the date of the 2019 election which will be held on June 18.
