Readers Write: Setting the record straight

In response to Jack Lipsky’s recent nonsense:
No president sets the price of gasoline. The price is determined by the price of oil, which is set by the oil companies.
President Biden is not responsible for the baby formula shortage. That happened because we have one plant in the entire United States that makes 90 percent of the formula and it had to shut down because of contamination problems.
And yes I am better off now because we no longer have a whiny crybaby (give him a binkie) in the White House who can’t accept being a loser

Editor’s Note:

The price of crude oil is set by producers and the world oil market.  The oil companies use the crude oil to make gasoline and other petroleum products, which they then price for the consumer.

There are four manufacturers of baby formula in the United States that make up 90 percent of the market here.  One of the plants, Abbott Nutrition, was shut down because of contamination concerns.
