Readers Write: Ted Rosen best choice for G.N. Plaza

I am voting for Ted Rosen for Mayor of the Village of Great Neck Plaza.  I have known Ted, who is my neighbor, for more than forty years.

On more than one occasion, I have heard Ted say that a village should be involved in many aspects of life and that of course, a village should perform well general municipal services, such as cleaning the streets, repairing the roads, collecting the garbage, etc.   Under the leadership of Ted and his colleagues in village government, the Village of Great Neck Plaza has performed and continues to perform these municipal services well.  It is part of the reason why my wife and I are happy to live here.  It is part of the reason that homes and apartments in the Plaza are in high demand.  But, I have heard Ted also say that he believes that a village should do more than these municipal services – as important as they are – and Ted explains that is why Great Neck Plaza has provided such things as an annual poetry program and contest, a weekly schedule of summer concerts and art shows in the Village Hall.

Ted is also a fair person.  A number of years ago, the Village had to place a street sign on our street, on which there had not been any such street signs.  Working with the Village’s Department of Public Works Department, Ted could have had the street sign placed on the lawn of any one of a number of homes on our street.  Instead, knowing that none of the residents of the street wanted the sign on their lawn, Ted had the sign placed on his own lawn, where it is to this day.  More recently, in the past several years, the Village has undertaken a multi-year street repair project.  Rather than select our street to be repaired  in the first year of the project, Ted and his colleagues in village government  had a professional engineering firm rank the village streets in the order of their condition, with the streets in most need of repair being  repaired in year one of the project.  Our street is scheduled to be repaired in the last year of the project, which is this year.  Ted has the intelligence, work ethic, dedication and character required of a Mayor.

For all of these reasons, I am voting for Ted Rosen for Mayor of the Village of Great Neck Plaza and his running mates, Pam Marksheid and Michael Deluccia, both of whom are very experienced in village governance, for trustee.

Very truly yours,

Lawrence Raphael
