Mineola man arrested for alleged criminal mischief

A Mineola man who allegedly placed tire spikes near Nassau County Police facilities was arrested on Thursday, officials announced in a press release.

Manuel C. Reis, 59, allegedly conducted a variety of criminal mischief incidents on five seperate occasions, officials said. The incidents allegedly occurred from May 11-July 11 before detectives were led to Reis’ location, officials said.

Reis intentionally placed the tire spikes near police facilities, resulting in damage to multiple Nassau County Police Department vehicles and damage to a woman’s vehicle as well, according to the release. Reis was arrested at his Berkley Road home Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Reis was charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, three counts of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, attempted criminal mischief in the fourth degree, four counts of reckless endangerment in the second degree and three counts of obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, according to the release.

His arraignment was scheduled for Friday, but efforts to reach law enforcement for further comment on the matter were unavailing.
