June events at the Floral Park Library

June means graduations, Flag Day, Father’s Day and, of course the Summer Reading Kickoff. The Library’s kickoff events include Comedy Ventriloquist Steve Petra and His Zany Adventure Team, Animal Fun Petting Zoo with Steppin’ Out Ponies, and Teen Laser ZTag.

Also, this month offers A Time for Kids Baby Start and Family Pre-School Hour, Funkytown Playground with Ms. Aly, and PreK – age 2 Storycraft for the Children. And, Henna Hands Art for grades 3 – 5, and two three-week programs:  Learn to Sew with the Pom Pom Queen (grades 1 – 5), and Little Gardeners with Miss Rita (ages 3 – 5). The Taylor Swift theme continues with a Swift-inspired sunglasses creation led by Yvette Cheng (grades 3 – 5).

Teens can avail themselves of a quiet place to Exam Cram Study and, when not studying, there’s a Scavenger Hunt, a Pop-up event TBD, and a Babysitting Workshop on the calendar.

The Floral Park Library Urban Explorers have been busy these last few months.

The intrepid crew has toured Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral and The Cloisters. And the group is gearing up for the big bus trip to the Bronx this month. The itinerary includes Woodlawn Cemetery, The Hall of Fame for Great Americans, and City Island.

Adults are offered Springtime in Paris Tea with Chef Barbara Sheridan, Cricut Craft with Yvette, Empower Wellness! With Antoinette Biordi and Laura Hagan, Marbleized Note Card craft with Cathy Buckley, and an homage to summer Solstice Drum Circle on the Library Lawn with Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Manhattan.
