Michael Rant, P.E. is a Principal of Northcoast Civil and the President of the Engineering Department.
Northcoast Civil is a Civil Engineering & Land Surveying firm located in Oyster Bay. Northcoast Civil provides a wide range of civil engineering and land surveying services for commercial and residential projects all throughout Long Island.
Mr. Rant joined the firm in 2007, which at the time was named Bladykas & Panetta, and began to climb his way up the ranks and grow the company.
In 2019 Mr. Rant and his current partner, Thomas Bremen P.L.S., took over the business and rebranded it as Northcoast Civil.
A once small “mom & pop” land surveying company began its transformation into a thriving civil engineering and land surveying firm that has been able to compete with the large firms and make a name for themselves.
Mr. Rant has used his vast knowledge of civil engineering to see a multitude of projects go from a raw piece of land to a completed, fully operational development.
His hands-on approach allows him to be intimately involved in each project whether it is a small residential single-family home or a large-scale commercial development.
Each project is given the same level of attention and professional care. He continues to develop new relationships with clients and manage his growing team of motivated engineers.
Currently, Mr. Rant and the Northcoast Civil team have been involved in many development projects throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Some of the recent projects include the subdivision of a 43-acre parcel of land into seven residential building lots in the Village of Oyster Bay Cove, a redevelopment project of a vacant commercial strip mall site into a mixed-use development in the Village of Roslyn, a new four-story, 92-unit multi-family development in the Village of Mineola, site engineering for the construction of six new single-family homes in the Village of East Hills and a new car dealership in the Village of Hempstead.
Northcoast Civil has been able to complete a wide range of different projects and continues to take on new areas of civil engineering.
In the past five years Mr. Rant has helped strategically grow Northcoast Civil.
He believes the backbone to a great company is its employees and he makes every effort to show his appreciation for his amazing team. Without having a positive, enjoyable work environment employees will never give 100%. He hopes to keep the momentum going and continue to grow his team of hard-working engineers.
As a native Long Islander, Mr. Rant enjoys working on projects where he grew up and continues to live today with his wife and four children. It is exciting to see the natural progression of properties as they change hands and are redeveloped to fit the needs of the current times.
It is important to not stand in the way of progress but rather properly plan for the future.
What has enabled you to be successful?
My drive and determination has allowed my to reach my goals and continue to be successful. Growing up it was instilled in me at a young age how important a strong work ethic was.
It is very rewarding to spend so much time working to get a project approved and seeing the finished product. I encourage my employees to take pride in their work and continue to grow as engineers.
