Free skin cancer screenings at Growing Love Garden

Skin Cancer is the most common cancer in the United States and it is estimated that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.

The Growing Love Community Garden, in collaboration with North Shore University Hospital, will provide free skin cancer screenings to members of the Port Washington Community on Saturday, Sept. 10 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Residents 18 years of age and older are encouraged to attend. Dr. Silvija Gottesman, a board-certified dermatologist, will perform the screenings in private exam rooms in the Northwell Health Mobile Unit.

For those who want to reserve a spot in advance, pre-registration is available by calling: (516) 562-4715, however, walk-ins are welcome. Screening participants are encouraged to wear bathing suits and open-toe shoes to their screenings.

The Village of Manorhaven Ribbon Cutting Celebration will take place on the same day. Screening participants are invited to join the fun when their skin check is done. There will be food, a DJ and more.
