Meditation for Inner Peace – Virtual

In the comfort and coolness of your own home, join Bruce Faithwick as he explores going within rather than without!Learn the art of blocking out stressful triggers, by finding peace by living in the current moment.

In-Person: Library Plant and Garden Group – 1st Floor Modular Room          Tuesday, Aug. 15, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.  Calling all gardeners, of all levels and interests!  Join the Plant and Garden Club and discuss skills and interests with fellow gardeners.  Let’s discuss composting, annuals and perennials, indoor and outdoor gardens, container gardens, terrariums (make your own!), and your problems and successes!   Sessions meet Aug. 15, Sept. 19 from 6:30-7:30 pm. No registration necessary.

Information Table: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease – Lobby                                                                                                                                                     Wednesday, Aug. 16, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Stop by and say hello to our friends from Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands!  They will be “on hand” to offer information about this local innovative community program serving family caregivers by connecting them with a circle of help that includes trained volunteers who provide an array of respite services. Well-trained volunteers provide family caregivers of older adults with the time to meet self-care needs, as well as other family obligations, at no cost.

Nassau County Property Tax Exemptions Assistance – All Purpose Room

Wednesday, Aug. 16, 1 – 3 p.m. Nassau County Property Tax Exemptions Workshop sponsored by County Executive Bruce Blakeman in Partnership with Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello. Department of Assessment staff will be on hand to provide individual assistance to any homeowner who would like to file for his or her Veterans, Senior Citizen, Cold War Veterans, Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers, or Limited Income Disability exemption on-site. Enhanced STAR applications will also be processed for homeowners already enrolled in the STAR Program prior to January 2, 2015.

  • One-on-One assistance is available on a first-come-first-served basis. Applicants are asked to arrive no later than 2:30 p.m. to the workshop.

Stemtastic: Rainbows! – All Purpose Room

Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: 7 – 12 years.  We’ll observe the science behind how the unified white light is made up of the diversity of colors. We’ll paint our own rainbows using red, blue, & yellow and observe the magic that happens when they come together.

Stay Groovy Down on Green Meadows Farm! – All Purpose Room

Thursday, Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. Ages: 6 – 10 years. Jason Reilly is back with his frogs bugs, and other furry friends! Meet Princess the Toad, Tickles the Hedgehog and Chica the Chinchilla and learn cool facts about each animal. This program will include singing, laughing, and of course a chance to touch and pet the animals!

Time for Kids: Amusement Park! – All Purpose Room

Friday, Aug. 18 at 10:30 a.m. Ages: 3 – 7 years (with parent/caregiver). Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. as we explore in this family fun preschool program all about amusement parks. Activities include music, movement, fine & gross motor development and storytelling! There will also be an amusement park craft!

Monday, Aug. 21 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: 6 – 8 years. Join us for some stories, songs, and create a scrumptious snack!
